Learning brief issued by the fire service

Our colleagues at Norfolk Fire & Rescue have asked us to share some learning around telecare alarms, following a fatal fire in the UK last year.  The learning was shared as joint operational learning for the fire and rescue services within the UK.

Fire crews were called to an automatic fire alarm at an assisted living development.  Unfortunately, one of the residents was found deceased as a result of the fire.  The occupier was a smoker, heavy drinker and bed-bound.  He had been moved from his bedroom to the lounge area however, interventions which had earlier been issued by the fire and rescue service during two safe and well visits, and his careline system, had not been moved with him.
